How To Remove Personal Information From Your Credit Reports
- Dec 04, 2017
Have you pulled your credit report recently? If not, then you should. You could possibly be the victim of identity theft and not even be aware of it. Have you seen all of you personal information? When I say personal information, I mean former addresses, former phone numbers and former employers. Did you ever wonder how all of your former addresses got on your credit reports? The answer to that question is that your creditors likely placed them there by reporting your payment histories. Another answer is that they are there due to information that you supplied by applying for credit.
Here is what you need to do in order to remove your personal information by phone.
Equifax - You must have an official Equifax Credit report from Equifax. It will have a 10 digit confirmation number. On that report, it will have the phone number to Equifax so that you can speak with a live representative. You must provide the confirmation number through an automated prompt in order to speak with the representative. If not, you will not be able to speak with anyone. When you get a representative on the phone, simply let them know that you want to remove all of your former addresses. They make ask you to name the addresses. If so, just do so, one by one. The same thing applies to former phone numbers and employers. They will send you an updated report once it is done. It only takes about 48 hours to be completed. If they ask you if you'd like to receive it by email, my advice would be to ask them to mail it to you by postal mail.
Experian - You must have an official Experian Credit Report from Experian. It will have a 10 digit confirmation number. You must verify your confirmation number through the prompts. Follow the prompt to speak with a live representative. The phone number for the Experian Credit Bureau is 1.800.493.1058. Experian is different within itself. Some of your addresses will not come off if they are connected to a creditor that is on your credit report. If they are not connected, then they will be removed. Ask the representative to remove your phone numbers and employment. They will without a problem. This process only takes about 48 hours.
Transunion - You must have an official Transunion Credit Report from Transunion. The phone number to Transunion is 1.800.916.8800. The process is not complex at all. Follow the prompt until you get a live representative. They will ask you questions to verify your identity. Once you have verified, just let the representative know that you want to remove all of your former addresses. Depending on the representative, they could ask you to name the addresses. Next, let them know that you want to remove all of your former phone numbers and employers. It's a very simple process.
I hope this helps you in removing the clutter from your reports. Always remember that your credit can determine your lifestyle!!
